THE community is being encouraged to get active in King George V playing field on new outdoor gym equipment that has recently been installed.
The equipment is free to use, and offers visitors to the park a number of ways to exercise different parts of their body.
Town councillor Terri Welch told Melksham News, “This is for all ages and all abilities. Hopefully it will encourage people to try a little exercise on their daily walk around the park. And it’s free!”
Cllr Vanessa Fiorelli added, “Come for a walk around the park and get the blood pumping!”
The outdoor gym equipment is one of many improvements being made to the town’s main park by the town council. This year has also seen a new splashpad opened next to the park pavilion, and a new patio area outside the pavilion.
Proposals for future improvements include a new sensory garden/tree walk, an all-new play area located next to the splashpad, an adventure area, café, sports area and a nature area.
